Giant Fuyu Persimmons
When I started making Fuyu Persimmon Pâte de Fruit 2 years ago, I was lucky to have a tree in my backyard, but sadly, we moved to a new place last Summer, I do miss the tree :(
These are a rare find as they are not commonly grown commercially but luckily I found them this past Sunday at Fontana Farms' stall located at Montclair’s Farmers Market :)
These particular variety looks like a cross between a Fuyu and a Hachiya, it's got the ridges of the first but their shape is more elongated. It can also be eaten like both of them, firm like an apple or soft when very ripe.
For my sweeties I choose to do the latter so I'll have to let these beauties become softer and sweeter for a couple weeks more, meaning...Fuyu Persimmon Pâte de Fruit will be available in 3 weeks!
